Dear Boris,

I wanted to express my gratitude for such an excellent course. I sincerely feel privileged because I was present in the first iteration of SPPH 681A. I was not exactly a neophyte when I started the Causal Inference course, so I was able to appreciate the difficult work that you accomplished summarizing and condensing the ideas of “convoluted geniuses” such as Pearl, Robins, Rubin or Hernán (ok, the last one is rather easier to follow than the former authors…). Also, as someone who was already proficient in Stata, I found your tutorials very well commented, and I can see them as a great starting point for someone with little to no experience who wants to delve into Stata programming (my classmates might have already told you so).

I honestly think that I will be applying many of the concepts and algorithms that I learned during your lectures (and their related coursework) to my observational epidemiology explorations. I will be recommending highly your Causal Inference course to my PhD cohort (I really believe it should be part of the core courses that SPPH PhD students must take).

Once again, thank you very much for your efforts, your kindness and your patience. May you have a wonderful New Year 2015.

Sincerely,

Héctor Velásquez García
